We arrived in Dease River Crossing in northern British Columbia on Thursday and stayed here for two wonderful days. This place is the best of all.We have stayed here two years in a row now and love it. It is just a totally awesome place! The bear stood up on his hind legs for the picture. I was about 30 feet from him. What a sight he was.

Downtown Hyder & Salmon Glacier
Hyder Alaska is not much to write home about. It is situated deep in the coastal mountains and has a winter population of about 99. I keep asking folks where the WalMart is and they have to think about it for a couple of seconds before they snicker. In the late summer & fall the bears can be out fishing for salmon in the river but not today. The salmon are still about a 1000 miles out in the Pacific Ocean. Salmon Glacier is Totally Awesome! Today we are off to Kinaskan Provincial Park or Dease Lake. See Ya.

Hyder Alaska
Greetings from Hyder Alaska. We are staying at Camp Run A Muck. Time for showers, laundry, & internet. Last night at Meziadin Park was a real treat. The worst camping experience ever. We could not do anything but stay in the RV while the mosquitos swarmed. We had our windows and doors tightly shut but they still managed to find a way in through our ventalation system and we fought them all night.

Meziadin Lake
We are safely in our Rialta under seige! The mesquitoes are attacking. I sure am glad we have an on board bathroom. This camp ground has a nice view but we are enjoying it from the inside! Tomarrow we are off to Hyder Alaska. It is a fun place situated on the lowest point of the inside passage. We will return to the Canadian side and continue north on the Cassiar Highway the following day. Talk to you soon.
The Cassiar Highway
We finally made it to the Cassiar Highway! 1700 miles from home, 1200 miles from Fairbanks. Today was rain, mountains, and more mountains. We are getting in to the remote areas now. Today we checked a Chev pickup the had rolled and crashed in a ravene. It appears to have been abandoned there after the crash. It was in a place where it could not have been retrieved.
Beaumont Provincial Park
After Church we headed north to Prince George, (not to be confused with Uncle George!), west to Fraser Lake and Beaumont Provincial Park. Today it was Bears, Cyotes, and Elk. Lots to see much to do as we make our way to Alaska. The Rialta has been averaging 19 miles per gallon and has been working out very well. Where ever we end up at the end of the day LaRee makes a wonderful dinner and we have a warm bed to sleep in.
Quesnel BC
We spent the night in the parking lot of Quesnel First Ward and attended Church in the morning. It was Fast and Testimony and was very nice. It is off to Prince George after Church.

Cache Creek BC Canada
Here we are at the Brookside Campground in Cache Creek and for $27 per night we have full hookups, wifi, and other stuff. Our neighbors are from Switzerland. They rented an RV in Calgary AB and have been on the road a month. They still have 3 months to go! It is sort of like an Astrailian walk about. Never quite know when to quit. We will be heading north in the direction of Prince George BC and attend Church on Sunday somewhere along the way. Good thing we made a list of Wards along the way before we left home.
1300 miles from home and 1600 miles from Fairbanks. See Ya.

Washington
After a drive of about 300 miles we arrived in Kettle Falls Campground in northern Washington State. This is a state run facility however it is as nice as a national park campground. We picked a site next to the lake in the pines and did some hiking. We stayed here two nights. 900 miles away from home and 2000 miles from Fairbanks. Now we are on the road to British Columbia Canada. Talk to you soon.

Wyoming
We left Murray on Saturday and made our first stop in Cody Wyoming. After spending the night in the Cody First Ward parking area we attended Church there on Sunday morning. Our Rialta is completely self contained so it makes it simple to spend the night just about anywhere. We have, in the past, spent the night in WalMart parking with other RV travelers however we find Church parking much more quiet.
While in Cody we went out to the cemetery. We decorated the graves of my Mom & Dad and several of their friends.

Well here we go again. Salt Lake City to Fairbanks the long way. We will be leaving on Friday and expect to be away for about 2 months. First stop will be to spend a few days with Aunt Jerri in Missoula and then north from there. We will be going through Spokane and then on to Prince George BC. From there we will travel up the Cassiar Hwy. to Whitehorse YT. From there it is a straight run to Fairbanks AK. A grand total of 2900 miles one way!
We will be traveling in our Rialta Motorhome this year. It should make it easier to stay in Provincial Parks and private camp grounds. Last year was more of a bed & breakfast trip. Our last trip is [alcan2009.blogspot.com]. So come along for pictures and fun. We will keep the blogs on for you. Sam & LaRee.
